Archaeology as a ‘futurist’ discipline

One of the great challenges for the 21st century is creating solutions to linked social and environmental change. Archaeology is uniquely poised to make a significant contribution to this debate by helping to explain trajectories of socio-ecosystem evolution over long time scales.   Legacies of Resilience is a long-term research project to  promote the use of long-term coupled human/environmental records for conservation.  Current projects in include the full-coverage landscape survey of the Eastern portion of the Lake Pátzcuaro Basin, Michoacán, Mexico.  Legacies of Resilience is directed by Christopher Fisher.
